Songs Of The Profane: Twin Moons Prelude by Aldia Elwood
Recently, I got commissioned to do my first book cover, and that book, Songs of the Profane: Twin Moons Prelude, by my friend Aldia Elwood, is out now! :D You can buy it here on Amazon, in Paperback or Digital! I strongly recommend checking it out if you’re into creative fantasy novels written and illustrated by trans people. ^^ I’m excitedly waiting for my copy as we speak!
For this piece I tried a lot of new techniques. I’m really proud of the sky especially. It’s no secret to anyone who’s seen my work that I’m a fan of bleeding various brightly-colored ink and watercolor shades into eachother, and it occurred to me it was a natural way to paint a nebula, so it was almost a no-brainer at that point, especially with a splash of white for the stars. For the planets, I finally got to make solid use of a technique I learned some time ago where you cover a section with rubber cement before painting to keep an area from getting hit with your watercolors. And, in the rest, I played heavily with underpainting to give a nighttime vibe. Overall, I’m very pleased with how it turned out! ^^
Anyways, Please check out this book, and I’ll talk to everyone here again soon! Really excited to get this blog going!
